THE “P” TALKS!

THE T.E.A.M. (The Entertainment Arts and Media) was organized by media members whose aim is to uplift not just the writing standards of the members but to be driven by advocacies that will help the society.
While the rest of the organizations focused their projects in giving awards on TV, Movies and Music, the T.E.A.M. had been producing shows and doing charity works every now and then.
Recently, as a way of giving back, the T.E.A.M. asked friends from the different fields to partner and sponsor the gift-giving and turning of donations to GRACES (Golden Reception and Action Center for the Elderly and other Special cases) and RSCC (Reception and Study Center for Children).
Nilo Mahasol Salgarino, the SWO III/Supervising Social Worker at GRACES was very happy to welcome the group and grateful with gifts from Pie Ignacio’s several gallons of hand soap liquid and detergent from her Sabon Depot; Christi Ann Fider’s (singer of “Teka, Teka, Teka” and “Beto Na Naman”) boxes of alcohol, toilet and paper towels; Aiko Melendez’ boxes of alcohol; Joel Cruz’ (through Roy Redondo) gallons of alcohol, hand sanitizer and the famous Aficionado perfumes; Sir Jake Pineda’s bags of goodies (with rice, Ligo sardines, CDO carne norte, Energen, coffee), and so many more.
Sir Nilo quipped that “Magiging masaya talaga ang mga lolo’t lola natin, especially with the perfumes. Madalas kasi, after nila maligo, naghahanap sila ng pampabango raw sa kanila. Kaya siguradong matutuwa sila.”
GRACES’ eldest patient is 87 years old while the youngest is about 60 years old.
Sir Jake remembered a time when he brought an old man in the institution. Who was abandoned by the family and was left all alone in a fast-food center. The Lolo couldn’t remember anything about him and his life.
“Yes, he’s still with us!”
Though government funded, Nilo and GRACES are very much thankful to the kind hearts and souls who share their blessings every now and then.
The T.EA.M. hit the day with one stone. After sharing the gifts to GRACES, and partaking of a hearty meal the group proceeded to the RSCC, where we were welcomed by Officer of the Day, Ms. Solita Madriaga. Here it was the turn of the orphaned kids to get their gifts.
This time, Congressman Yul Servo Nieto through sister Sheena and their indefatigable staff composed of (Patricia Janne Pallattao, Lovely Barican, Lovely Quintano, Aileen Joy Andres, Junjie Sison, Kevin Buere, Aljohn Valencia, and Joemar Mejico) brought their Kusina Manileño to RSCC’s grounds where 100 packed snacks (chicken and spaghetti) were delivered to the kids and their caretakers.
This time, the place looked like a mini department store when load of toys, kiddies’s shoes from here and abroad were given for the kids to partake. There were also alcohol, paper towels from Christi; the packed bags from Sir Pineda, and the 6 sacks of rice from actress Gretchen Barretto (through Ana Abiera and France Simeon) and tumblers from Regine Tolentino, too.
