THE KING OF TALK IN TIMES SQUARE!

THE “P” TALKS!

BY: Pilar Mateo

IN a billboard at that. In one of the busiest streets in the world known to tourists and travelers-that side of New York, in the US.

The King of Talk, Boy Abunda took a respite from his digital platforms shows and running a farm in Batangas, to once again, grace the TOFA (THE OUTSTANDING FILIPINOS IN AMERICA) Awards of Elton Lugay on its 11th year at the Carnegie Hall last October 7, 2021.

The Kuya Boy has been hosting the event for years now. And this time, apart from co-hosting it with Jaya, he also stood in the podium to be part of the bevy of speakers for the night.

The TOFA 2021 speakers included Elton Lugay, Rod Mercado, Jordan Andino, Brendan G. Flores, Kataluna Enriquez, Attorney Loida Nicolas Lewis, Lee Kiefer, Attorney General Rob Bonta, Dr. Dely Go, Honorable Gina Ortiz Jones, and Dr. Francisca Velcek.

His stay in the Big Apple is short but the King of Talk was able to make his short stay memorable.

There was a whole day of pictorial for a brand he was to endorse.

It’s the Ia’s Threads of founder Ia Faraoni, a recipient of the Environmental Welfare and Advocacy Award from the recently concluded TOFA.

After seeing Yam Concepcion on the billboard in Times Square, the lights are lit this time for Kuya Boy as he holds the DIWATA JAUNE backpack of Ia’s Threads.

Witnessed by our kababayans and tourists around Times Square, “Asia’s King of Talk electrified the crowd with the launch of his digital billboard in Times Square.

“What a great way to show celebration of the Filipino-American History Month ~ showcasing sustainable Philippine-made product that brings alive the story of ancient Filipino craftsmanship, with Asia’s King Of Talk right in the center of the most visited tourist attraction,” said rhe comments.

A sustainable, ethical and philanthropic fashion brand Ia’s Threads works with artisans and small communities across the Philippines to produce handwoven bags using natural fiber and ecological dyes. It also produces zero-waste fashion dresses made of upcycled waste fabrics and post-consumer textiles.

Ia Matunhay Faraoni, the Founder and CEO’s works have been recorgnized at the CMG Paris Fashion Week and by Remodista.

Kuya Boy flew to New York with his Team. His partner Bong Quintana, personal assistant Philip Ababon Rojas and stylist Demi Enotalio.

The schedule was just crazy. He met with his “Over A Glass Of Two” (OAGOT) hosts Jessy Daing and Jcas Jesse and Direk JV Valino and spent the day touring in a Winery, going around the Dumbo Tour, eating out, crossing to Brooklyn and taking a side visit to LJ Reyes’ Cafe in the heart of the city.

The King of Talk was really a head-turner wherever he went donning his Rick Owens get-up. Marami’ng pa-picture at pa-selfie because c’mon, who wouldn’t recognize the Boy A!

Start spreading the NEWS, not the virus!

As he would put it, his message to TOFA and the whole wide world is “Choose to be happy all the time! See you next year!”

Kuya Boy would like to thank:
