THE “P” TALKS
BY: Pilar Mateo
SYNONYMOUS with “Kasipagan”, Joel Cruz’ name in the business world will always be emblazoned in big and bold letters.
The Lord of Scents, in spite of what has befallen us and the rest of the world, still continues to look after the people under his wings.
The reason why, his Aficionado perfume still continues to serve its clientele in the market even in pandemic.
It was his 21st Anniversary last September 5. The only difference now is that there is no big event.
His 3ldest twins Prince Sean and Princess Synne celebrated their 9th birthday a day before.
Joel makes it a point to celebrate the moments he can spend with his kids. Even in just the confines of their homes.
His Nanay Milagros would have been 93 years old on September 13. She passed on last May 23.
When he’s not playing with his kids, tutoring them or just eating together and doing stuff, he finds himself immersed with the “other” businesses he got himself busy with.
The opening of more branches of his TakoyaTea. His friends witnessed the opening of the flagship store last October 18 in Sampaloc (at the corner of Sisa and Retiro streets) in Manila.
Now, Joel boasts of its 50 stores nationwide. And more are opening.
“There is one in Bangued, Abra habggang Rabago, Cotabato. I have a Sky Cable show with our good friend Token Lizares in Bacolod City, called TLS (True Lifestyle) which we co-host with ABS-SCB Regional newscaster Leilani Alba. Si Token was instrumental sa pag-open ng TakoyaTea in Bacolod. Which we plan to propagate in the whole of Negros.
“This pandemic really has taught each and everyone of us so many great life lessons. When it hit us, nung una, nakwento ko ang awa ko sa mga tao ko. Hibdi makalalabas ng bahay and all that. Kailangan din kasi magbawas ng mga papasok sa trabaho. We found ways naman para walang mawala o malaglag. Basta ang priority eh ang kalusugan ng lahat.
“I just continue to be optimistic. That these things shall pass. Kaya siguro apart from Aficionado, itong TakoyaTea ang naisip ko na buksan. Food business na lahat naman kailangan at matatangkilik pa rin.
“I am grateful sa mga kasama natin sa entertainment media like the PMPC for the recognition as Outstanding and Influential Filipino Entrepreneur.
“There are so many milestones in our lives. In mine, both happy and sad. But like I always say tuloy pa rin ang laban. Para maging mabango at malinamnam ang buhay.”
Joel share his moments of love in life in his social media platforms. Making each day count with the laughter he and kis kids share, with the people whose lives he has changed by teaching them how “to fish” and opening more and more avenues for more people to earn their keep.
Anniversaries and more. Cheers! (30)
