IN her “Over A Glass Or Two” (OAGOT) interview, a podcast in New York, hosted by Jessy Daing and JCas Jesse, actor, comedienne, singer and educator Beverly Salviejo gave a lot of revealing stories about her life.
That some years ago, she was kidnapped in a mall when she was going to buy things for her kid’s baon to school.
It was raining and when she opened her car, a man pushed her inside the vehicle. And another man rode with them.
Wala namang rape that happened. But I was groped. They made me withdraw sa ATM ko.
“During those times, panay tseke ang ako-collect ko from the various productions na nagtatrabaho ako. Kaya, wala pang pumasok.
“Malaking trauma, yes. Kaya ngayon, kapag nagpa-park ako ng sasakyan, I make it a point na maliwanag, sa may mga tao.
Beverly shared so many anecdotes about her life and she brought the house down by making those watching and listening really laugh so hard.
“Madalas ako mapagkamalan na may kamukha. Madalas natatawag akong Evelyn Vargas. That time, may plano na sana kaming gawan ng project ni Mother Lily ng Regal na pantapat sa Tito, Vic and Joey. Ako, the late Zorayda Sanchez and si Evelyn nga.
“Sa mall, may tunawag sa akin Ecelyn. Syempre, hindi ko pinansin. Hinabol ako. Ang suplada ko raw. Sabi ko hindi ako ‘yun. Ayaw maniwala! Sinigawan ko!”
It was a no-holds barred with Beverly that late night in OAGOT. More than the fun and the laughter, people were able to learn so many things from her, from the food she eats to her diet, to her singing (a coloratura soprano), doing auditions, a life well-lived and her relationship with her GOD, even her principles in politics.
Beverly is just sad that when this pandemic stroke, nary a project has come her way.
