DURING his “sexy” days as an actor, he was best remembered for essaying the role of “Machete” under Seiko Films.
That was the path that made him become the good actor who can do roles from drama, to comedy, even action.
Later on, the term “cupcake” was glued to his personality, culled from a teleserye he made. And recently, he and his partner in life started lording the streams online with their “TikTok” styles.
Gardo Versoza. Give him any role and he can portray it to the hilt. Especially gay roles where he is sought after.
But behind the cameras, apart from being a husband to Ivy (Vicencio), he is a hands-on Dad to their son, Deity Uziel.
The very reason why, F2N Marketing picked him to be their first male endorser, after launching Aiko Melendez last year. A family man!

As product endorser and F2N Marketing’s Ambassador, Gardo admitted in a Zoom Media Con that he and the missus have been drinking the coffee when they were made to taste it and when VIR2D came into the picture, it has been part of his health regimen.
“Hindi naman kasi ako ang tipo’ng magre-rekomenda ng isang produkto na hindi ko naman ginagamit. Paano naman akong papaniwalaan ng tao kung halimbawa, sabon’g panlaba ang ipino-promote ko tapos, hindi naman pala ako naglalaba.
“Kaya, tinanggap ko naman ang tiwala sa akin ng F2N Marketing kasi, ginagamit ko talaga ang mga produkto nila.”
Attended by more than a hundred people online, apart from the members of the press, the different teams promoting the products are so eager to meet the actor in person soon, when the pandemic ends. Most are giggly and even asking for virtual hugs and kisses.
Ms. Josephine Ramos, Corporate Management Consultant and Ms. Ana Arambulo Jambalos, believe that Gardo is the “Makabago at Tunay na Macho!”
Gardo said that it has become so easy for him to nix people’s doubts about his masculinity.
“Noon pa naman, dinaanan ko na ‘yan. People will want to believe what they want to believe. Ako ngayon, happy kasi, naka-angkla kami ni Kumander sa Panginoon. Kaya, hindi namin pinapansin ang sasabihin ng iba.”
Even if he is wearing those stillettos while gyrating to “Savage Love”, Gardo still exudes that sexiness that his being a “machete” made female and male alike want to have a piece of him!
DIRECTOR ADOLF Alix, Jr. got the idea of “Happenstance” when he came across a news item in the time of pandemic, where while decluttering, a woman finds a pile of love letters from the ceiling of her house.
He asked writer-friend Gerry Gracio to write a screenplay where the theme or plot would be about two people meeting from two different time zones. In two different timelines.
A connection about two persons connected magically.
Direk Alix made sure that he will see the chemistry of his actors from their eyes.
“Not really a “light bulb moment”. I made them do a reading ng isang scene from “Muli”. ‘Yun ang ginawa kong basehan. Sa mata lang ako talaga. Kung nagsasabi ng totoo in terms of emotion. Kahit kasi magaling sila, kung wala ‘yung chemistry na ‘yun, hindi magwo-work.”
And for sure this will be another BL series to really look forward to.
Who are the leads that will be revealed?
The two leads for “Happenstance” are acting ingenus. They are relatively new to the craft but are willing to learn and take on challenges.
Kiko Ipapo, 21, is a social media personality and influencer. He started as a print model before deciding to try his luck in acting. “Happenstance” is his first foray into acting.
Jovani Manansala, 23, also entered the entertainment industry by doing several commercial ads. After that, he acted in television shows like “Ipaglaban Mo” and “Maalaala Mo Kaya” and in the independent films “Mamu, And a Mother Too” and “Jolly Spirit”.
Kiko and Jovani play Wade and Jose Manuel, two people who magically meet though living in different times – one in 1974 and in 2020.
Jose Manuel is grounded after his military father learned of his relationship with Luis, an activist. Wade, on the other hand, is reeling from a broken heart with Eric and while on vacation is caught up in the quarantine because of the COVID-19 pandemic. After the super moon, a portal seemed to open where these two heartbroken souls connect and open up to each other’s pains.
Written by Jerry B. Grácio, this GagaOOLala Original series is coming very soon on the streaming platform. The ensemble cast includes Bembol Roco, Rosanna Roces, Alan Paule, Angeli Bayani, Erlinda Villalobos, Ken Anderson, Shu Calleja & Ken Anderson.
