IT is always a breeze to look into the posts of Maxene Magalona-Mananquil.

She and husband Robby are still locked down in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.

But in spite of being sad or negative about the situation, they look at every single day i positive ways.

And Maxene shares the things they learn with each day.

Yoga and Meditation plays a great part in their life now.

“Medications, drugs, alcohol can also temporarily dull or obliterate unbearable sensations and feelings.

“But the body continues to keep the score.” — @bessel_van, The Body Keeps The Score 📖

“When I first heard about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD, I thought it was a condition that only affects war veterans and those in the military who have been in life-threatening situations.

“Now, I am aware that it can affect anyone who has suffered a traumatic experience such as natural disasters, vehicular accidents, robberies, sexual assault, abuse, domestic violence, bullying or grief due to the death of a loved one.

“According to author Bessel Van der Kolk, effects of these traumas get stored in our bodies which is why most people who have PTSD are always on fight or flight mode.

“Personally, I have experienced this myself I’ve always noticed that I didn’t respond well to stress ever since I was young. I was always overreacting and blowing problems out of proportion.

“By the time I reached adulthood, anxiety was overtaking my life as my mind kept overthinking about problems and I was constantly living in fear, just waiting for the next wrong thing to happen. I was a prisoner of my own mind which was the reason why I was so disconnected from my body. I would get triggered by small things and react as though I was being attacked. I didn’t feel safe in any environment. I didn’t feel safe in my own body.

“Just thought of sharing this today as it is #NationalPTSDAwarenessDay so that those who may be going through the same thing can better understand what they’re feeling or experiencing especially during this pandemic. You are not alone. I feel you. 🖤

“All good things come from gratitude.” 🙏🏼 I’m so grateful for vegan pasta! 🤤 We haven’t had some in a while so we decided to try the vegan menu at @losteria_ubud and it was such a treat! Our favorite was their fusilli pesto pasta 🍝 💚✨ #veganpasta #RobMaxxBali @ L’osteria”

In another post, she shared.

“Do you want to know why I decided to go deep into my yoga practice?

“It wasn’t because it helped me lose weight, get fit or start a career as a yoga teacher. It was because I discovered for myself how it could help me heal from my physical and emotional traumas as well as rewire my brain to be able to develop new neurological pathways and thinking patterns.

“This practice is so good for people like me who have complex PTSD because medications are not really helpful to us as this mental health condition is a result of prolonged trauma or multiple exposures to trauma, usually beginning in childhood.

“Imagine living with so many years and layers of all kinds of trauma and feeling unsafe in your own body. Dissociation is one of the most known symptoms of C-PTSD which is the feeling of being disconnected from your own body, not having a clear sense of self and/or being detached from reality.

“So when I started practicing yoga a few years ago, I noticed how it could make me feel safe in my own body. It helped me develop a healthy relationship with my mind and body. Yoga and meditation help me heal, change and grow into the person I was always meant to be —my true and authentic self. It has a lot of beautiful benefits to be honest, but my favorite would have to be how yoga and meditation make me feel my spirit and connect to God more than anything.

“Because of Him, I get to live and breathe so I just want to keep honoring Him through my practice. I want to thank Him for His unconditional love. I want to use my mind, body and soul to celebrate the gift of life that He has bestowed upon us.
#NationalPTSDAwarenessDay”

Loving each other by the day, she and Rob share many messages, too.

“Throw away the idea that you have to be fully healed to be in a loving relationship with a great partner. We normally come together with many unresolved issues because healing simply takes time. The couples who shine with harmony are the ones who commit to healing/growing together.” — Yung Pueblo ✨ Thank you for healing with me, @robmananquil. 🤍 📸 @sweet.escape”.

Sharing her life and love posts are truly inspirational. Mga Hugot in life and love that has made her open her heart to us.

“Life is not happening to me.. Life is happening for me 🙏🏼 Grateful for our @liforme yoga mats which have truly become our best friends here.

“On our mats, we get to express and be our true selves with no judgments and rules. We work on dissolving our egos and letting go of past conditionings which hold us back from reaching our highest potential as humans. This is why we practice #yogaeverydamnday 🖤 Today, on #InternationalYogaDay, Liforme is having a special sale online with up to 20% OFF! 3% of the proceeds will be going to @yogagivesback in India. “While I’ve been reading a lot of books during quarantine, I’ve also been watching a lot of Koreanovelas.

“The first few shows I watched while I was still in Manila were Crash Landing On You, Legend of The Blue Sea and My Love From The Star. (Jun Ji-Hyun is my favorite actress, I am obsessed with her!) Here in Bali, I recently finished watching What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, Itaewon Class (PSJ is just 😍❤️🥰), The World of The Married, Reply 1997, Reply 1994 and I’m just about to start watching Reply 1988 —I’m excited for this one because I’m also in the middle of watching The Encounter starring Park Bo Gum and Song Hye-kyo and I love it so much!

“Now I understand all the hype! All these shows are just so beautifully produced and we’re so lucky we get to watch them while we’re in lockdown. I’m so grateful to my mother-in-law @milletmartinezmananquil for introducing me to the wonderful world of K-Drama! Kamsahamnida! 🙏🏼💕 P.S. Did you know that you can get a Korean-inspired #KGlow facial at @myflawless? Try it out! It’s one of my favorites and the last facial I got before flying to Bali ✨

That’s a lot from my fave Magalona Kid. Now a happily married wife!
