THE “P” TALKS!
BY: Pilar Mateo
OUR FDCP (Film Development Council of the Philippines) Chairman Liza Diño-Seguerra spend the day in Congress and here was her take:
CONGRESS TWG CONSULTATION ON THE EDDIE GARCIA BILL
“Participated in a full day TWG consultation on the consolidated draft bill to address the Working Conditions and Occupational Safety and Health Standards of the Audiovisual Entertainment industry which includes film, tv, new media, commercials, and performing arts among others.
“From 10 am to 5 pm, hindi tinatantanan ng house committee on labor at mga resource persons hanggang matapos ang pagtalakay sa provisions ng bill. FDCP and DOLE, armed with the latest Joint Memorandum Circular signed by both government agencies and already in effect, willingly shared their inputs in the latest draft to help our legislators finalize the provisions that will be included in the bill. FAP, TUCP, Artist Welfare Project, Theater Actors Guild, Actors’ Guild, PMPPA, PRSR and other relevant institutions also provided valuable inputs to make sure that this bill will appropriately address the needs of the various sectors. It was a long and tedious process but everyone was on board to see it through. Our lawmakers understood more how passionate we were about this. Heck, we waited a hundred years for this! Kahit mag overnight, talagang di kami susuko.
“At yes nairaos… APPROVED (in principle), pending amendments in some of the provisions. But overall, nakarating po tayo sa finish line!
“Nakakataba ng puso. I can’t help but feel emotional coz nakakaencourage din yung tyaga ng mga sponsors ng bill para itackle yung concerns. Ramdam namin na gusto din nilang maipasa ito. Ika nga ni Cong. Mendoza “It’s about time na mapansin ang industriyang ito.”
“Sa ating mga sponsors Cong Michael L. Romero, Cong. Yul Servo Nieto, Cong. Rufus Rodriguez, at sa mga iba pang co-authors, thank you for championing our rights and looking after our welfare.
“To Cong. Raymond Mendoza, Cong. Pineda and Cong. Toff de Venecia of the House Committee on Labor, thank you for supporting this industry. Your swift action and proactiveness is truly inspiring para mabuo ang loob namin na magkaron ng katuparan ang pangarap naming maproteksyunan finally ang audiovisual industry.
“Marami pang pagdadaanan ito pero ngayon pa lang I am claiming it…As we close the centennial year of PH CINEMA, this government is giving us the greatest gift—
“A sustainable industry in the next hundred years.”
Her take home was a big grin on her face, as she and Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) Director General Vivian Velez posed for posterity.
Her caption was:
“Happy International Women’s Month!
“Showing Girl Power in Congress today. With FAP Director General Vivian Velez. Excited sa ating mga partnerships Ma’am. Let’s do this for our industry!”
ANGELINE QUINTO IS enjoying the waters of Boracay and is just wallowing in its peace and calm and serenity.
She wouldn’t divulge though who she is with in her short vacation.
People are saying that she is head over heels in love with someone who was able to capture her for a long time has been a so so cold heart.
Whoever she is with these days, just allow her to be happy. For as long as she and whoever is holding the key to her heart are not stepping on someone else.
Don’t worry! Be happy!
One thing that fans are admiring in Angge, is her being such a humanitarian.
She shared pictures of a bunch of kids swimming. The first time they had a taste of swimming in a pool. The pool is in Angelique’s home She gathered these street kids just to make them happy and see those smiles on their faces.
Charity begins at home! Blessed be, Angge!
