FOR THE CULMINATION of its 20-day celebration of its 19th Cityhood Anniversary, the morning of September 10, 2019 opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony of the Tanglawan Festival 2019 Art Gallery Exhibit.
San Jose Del Monte Bulacan’s Mayor Arthur and Congresswoman Ate Rida (Florida) Robes who already started the planning of the construction of the Culture and Arts Building for the talented and gifted children of SJDM who dabbles in the arts like painting will have their space to show their masterpieces.
Basement 2 of SM Tungko in SJDM Bulacan showcased the various artworks of the kids aged 14 up where the good Mayor and Congresswoman presented the artworks depicting “Tanglawan” in their art pieces.
“Ito ang mga obra’ng ‘di pwedeng tawaran,” according to Congresswoman Ate Rida. “Si Mayor talaga ang mahilig sa Arts especially sa mga idinibuho ng mga kamay.”
And Ate Rida became emotional when interviewed by the media.
“Kasi, napakalaki talaga ng hirap ko to put up this Tanglawan Festival this year. And today culminates everything. Magastos pero ang importante eh, ‘yung napasaya natin ang mga tao.”
For Mayor Arthur, “This is just the start of honing more talents especially in the Arts. Gaya nitong ibinahagi nila sa atin sa kanilang mga obra. Karamihan ng makikita nating mga gawa rito ay nagmula na sa mga kamay ng millennials. By December, gusto uli ni Congresswoman na sumali uli tayo sa Guinness Book of World Records. At i-beat naman natin ang UK.”
The lovely couple are being compared to Ormoc’s Lucy Torres and Richard Gomez.
Said the Mayor, “We are very good friends with them. Gaya ng sabi ni Misis, nang hindi pa sila busy noonsa Ormoc, madalas din silang bumisita rito. Kwentuhan lang. Walang nagbabago sa aming pagkakaibigan.”
There will be more things that the good mayor and his spouse, the Congresswoman Ate Rida are planning for their #RisingCity.
As they always say, #AryaSJDM!
The paintings on exhibit re not yet for sale. But something to be apprecited first.
“PAGBALIK” (Return) is Suzette Ranillo’s secons directoril job (the first being “Care Home” shot in the US).
As she joins the #PPP2019 (Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino), she and her Mom the great Visayan actress Gloria Sevilla are one in pushing Visayan films to be once again appreciated by the viewing public.
Says Suzette, “We came up with a story about OFWs, ‘yung mga umuuwi na sa pamilya nila and kung ano ‘yung relationships they have with their family, relatives, friends. The story we made was something na iba naman sa mga naging hugot na ng mga napanood na nating istorya ng mga nagtrabaho sa ibang bansa at kubg ano ang mga hugot nila sa buhay.”
Revelation in the movie is Suzette’s nephew (by her cousin) Vince Ranillo who portrayed the role of her son.
Shared Vince, “My first time to act. Pangarap ko na since the time napapanood ko my Uncle Archie (Mat Ranillo III) sa movies niya. Kaya, masaya ako nung sinabi ni Tita Suzette na ako na ang gaganap na anak niya.”
Mama Gloria just wants the movie to reach a lot of viewers and that Visayan movies such as this can be made and have that space in all festivals here and abroad.
“Nami-miss ko naman talaga ang umarte. I was last seen in “Malamaya” na part din ng isang festival. It was a small role but I felt so good doing it. Dito, mas malawak uli ang acting ko. Kaya nag-enjoy ako talaga.”
She can’t be the Queen of Visayan Movies for nothing!
