THE “P” TALK!
BY: Pilar Mateo
SPRING FILMS‘ first time to join the Pista ng Pelikilang Pilipino. It’s happening starting September 13, 2019.
It’s Dos’ (Boy2) Quizon‘s directorial debut.
“I have worked behind the scenes of several projects. I started as a kid in acting. So, it came at the right time. Gustu’ng-gusto ko talaga mag-direk. And more scripts are being sent to me. Sa ngayon, isa-isa rin muna ang focus.”
It’s Maris Racal‘s first solo lead role.
“I’m Ellenya L. Is the story of an ambitious 21-year old, Ellenya Lakampati on her quest to become the next big Vlogger.
What does Ellenya L. do?
On most days, she spends her time patterning her online presence on her celebrity idol (Sue Ramirez playing herself). Her Daddy Toots (Gio Alvarez), who is a musician, is there to support Ellenya L. Like climbing on a roof to get her that perfect “drone shot”.
Ellenya L. has a best friend. A photographer and the boy-next-door type. Peng (Iñigo Pascual) is also her staunch supporter. But he has become quite wary of Ellenya’s obsession with the image she projects online.
Then she meets her idol Sue. And fellow influencer Kyle Quintos (Patrick Sugui) with whom she takes the opportunity to get his help.
What does a Vlogger entail?
“As a Gen-Z’er, nowadays malaki ang influence ng social media sa mga tao. But it has its pros and cons. Lalo na when they turn a positive into a negative.”
Producer Neal Arce and director Boy 2 Quizon at first were not aware that their loveteam artists were no longer in a relationship.
Said Dos, “We didn’t want to bank din naman at maging conscious sa takbo ng relationship nila. All we saw was genuine friendship. Kaya ang saya nila sa set at nagawa ang ni-require sa kanila.”
If you ask the ex-“lovers”, as to their discoveries in their working relationship, “I came to appreciate myself more. Especially in acting. ‘Yung simple singer from America, eto making a name for myself na rin. Si Maris has been very independent. Mas naging comfortable pa kami with each other. Marami siyang jokes na ayaw niya na sine-share,” from Iñigo.
“For me, nakita ko na ‘yung passion na in what he does. Marami pa rin. After we went through a lot, ngayon gusto na lang namin tawanan ang lahat. He continues to be very supportive.”
Neal nixed the negative questions presented to him. And evaded to answer questions pertaining to his and Angel Locsin‘s wedding.
“In time, it will all come out. For now, huwag na muna. Baka mapagalitan din ako nung nasa bahay.”
“I’m Ellenya L.” will touch the hearts of the now generation who are so into Vlogging!
But as the leads say, there’s a catch towards the end of the movie!
They all wish that the viewing public patronize all the films that will be featured in the week-long (September 13-22, 2019) Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino and the celebration of cinema’s 100 Years!
