THE new rising star Jeselle Kempis is now preparing for her upcoming concert on September 28 at Kia Theater (formerly known as New Frontier Theater). Her concert is dedicated to her late father, Brigadier General Ronald E. Kempis.
We had a short conversation with her and she mentioned how she prepares for her upcoming concert, “I’m currently training with Direk Vince [Tañada] dito po sa Philippine Stagers Foundation… Iyun po. Practice po muna kami” Jeselle said. The director of the said concert is the Philippine Stagers Foundation founder, Vince Tañada.
Still starting her music career, but she already performed in a big and well-known venue like Kia. Recently, she performed on stage at Resorts World Manila with one and only Nonoy Zuñiga. The title of the concert is Through the Years. “Recently po, nagkaroon po kami ng concert sa Resorts World with Nonoy Zuñiga. Na-introduce na po ako doon. Iyun pa lang po [ang recent project ko po]” She declared

Starting at the young age, she showed a good potential as a great singer. She recalled her one of the first songs she memorized as a kid, “Ang dami po… [Siguro po] Cabaret… More on mga old songs like Top of the World… Medyo mga masasaya like before po kinakakanta ko iyung kay Donna Cruz na Kapag tumibok ang puso.” She said.
She admitted that she’s a Donna Cruz fan, but if she wants to have a collaboration on stage, she chooses the Asia’s Song Bird Regine Velasquez, “[Favorite ko po si Regine Velasquez] kasi po mataas ang boses. Magaling.” She said. She also loves to collaborate with the Concert King, Martin Nievera.
Jeselle Kempis graduated in Assumption College and Mirriam College, but she took Interior Design in a different school. She juggles her time as a singer and an employee of Bureau of Immigration.
