Here’s the list of winners of QCinema International Film Festival 2017 awards

YESTERDAY, October 26, QCinema International Film Festival 2017 revealed the winners at the awarding ceremonies held at Novotel Manila in Araneta Center, Cubao.

Despite of the MTRCB rating controversy, BALANGIGA: Howling Wilderness received four major awards, including Best Supporting Actor, Pio Del Rio; Best Actor, Justine Samson;  Best Director, Khavn; and Circle Competition Best Film.

Neomanila got the most nominations, but they only took two awards, including Circle Audience Choice Award, and Best Cinematography, Myko David.

Here’s the complete list of winners:

  • Circle Competition Best Film: BALANGIGA: HOWLING WILDERNESS by Khavn
  • Circle Competition NETPAC Jury Prize: DAPOL TAN PAYAWAR NA TAYUG 1931 by Christopher Gozum
  • Best Director: Khavn for BALANGIGA: Howling Wilderness
  • Best Actor: Justine Samson for BALANGIGA: HOWLING WILDERNESS
  • Best Actress: Jally Nae Gilbaliga for THE CHANTERS
  • Best Supporting Actress: Sheenly Gener for DORMITORYO (MGA WALANG KATAPUSANG KWARTO)
  • Best Supporting Actor: Pio Del Rio for BALANGIGA: HOWLING WILDERNESS
  • Best Cinematography: Myko David for NEOMANILA
  • Asian Next Wave Best Film: MARLINA THE MURDERER IN FOUR ACTS by Mouly Surya
  • Asian Next Wave NETPAC Jury Prize: SNOW WOMAN by Kiki Sugino
  • RainbowQC Best Film: CLOSE-KNIT by Naoko Ogigami
  • RainbowQC NETPAC Jury Prize: BEACH RATS by Eliza Hittman
  • Gender Sensitivity Award: DORMITORYO (MGA WALANG KATAPUSANG KWARTO) by Emerson Reyes
  • QC Shorts Best Film: BABYLON by Keith Deligero
  • Circle Audience Choice Award: NEOMANILA
  • QC Shorts Audience Choice Award: KUN’ DI MAN

This year’s Circle Competition festival jury includes Axel Estein, Najwa Abubakar, director Davy Chou, and Filipino filmmaker Erik Matti.

Film critics Clarence Tsui and Philbert Dy and writer-director Sigrid Andrea Bernardo make up the Asian Next Wave Competition Jury, while acclaimed poet J. Neil Garcia and filmmakers Johnny Symons and Ray Yeung served as the RainbowQC Competition jury.

Alessandra De Rossi, Quark Henares, and Axel Estein served as the QC Shorts Competition jury.

You can still watch the nominated films until October 28 at Gateway, Trinoma, UP Town Center, and Robinsons Galleria. QCinema 2017 is produced annually by the Quezon City Film Commission led by festival director Ed Lejano and supported by the office of Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.
